The waiting room...

I don't know about you, but a lot of the time my life feels like a constant waiting room. Waiting for this to happen or waiting for that to happen. Waiting, waiting, waiting. It is so easy for us to become impatient and want immediate results, but in our state of anticipation is when we grow the most.
Romans 8:24, 25 says...
"That is why waiting does not diminish us, any more than waiting diminishes a pregnant mother. We are enlarged in the waiting. We, of course, don't see what is enlarging us. But the longer we wait, the larger we become, and the more joyful our expectancy."
Its hard for us to see in the present how we are growing, but later in life we see. This time of waiting, of anticipation, is a time where God works behind the scenes, preparing and setting into motion things that are beyond our comprehension. Trust me, I know its hard to be patient, but if I have learned anything about waiting on God's timing is that it is absolutely perfect. Is it easy? No... not really, but He does promise us this...
"Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God's Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don't know how or what to pray, it doesn't matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans."
Romans 8:26
What peace comes from that... the fact that our God knows how hard it is to wait, and that He knows that sometimes we don't know how to wait. Thats why He gave us the Holy Spirit, to pray in us and for us, on our behalf. In our weakness, His strength is made perfect. I am learning, as I have been for twenty years now, to be joyous in my state of waiting. Believe me, its still a work in progress, because life is a constant waiting room. Have faith in the fact that our God is working behind the scenes and working in you no matter what the situation looks like or how you feel. He brings everything to you, to those He loves, in His perfect time. And oh, how sweet it is when His perfect timing is made complete. Of this you can be certain, absolutely certain.
