Camping time...

So last week, I got to spend a few days out of my summer pouring God's love and word into a few of the little kiddos from my church at camp. Here are just a few snap shots...

You know that saying? "Hindsight has 20/20 vision." I know this phrase is usually used in a condemning or regretful sense, but as I look back on camp I see just how much God was at work. It had more of an effect on me than I realized at first. My initial thought when preparing for this trip was how much fun it was going to be and how much God was going to rock the worlds of those kids, but I never expected how much it was going to change me. I mean, I was anticipating God to move, but not in the way He did. Personally, I was expecting Him to show up and "BOOM" shake my world, yet He came in a still, calm voice in the days to follow camp. I wish I could explain to you in detail how He has moved in my life, but its honestly something I have absolutely no clue how to put into words.

During these past few days where God has worked in His originality and His unique ways, a desire and passion has ignited in me for His presence. I'm starting to realize and more frequently recognize how He is actually here with me and in me, creating in me and giving me "the desire and power to do what pleases Him." (Phil. 2:13)
His presence is so immense in the life of a Christian, but its up the Christian to recognize that presence and draw from its power. Its so easy to become so overwhelmed and distracted with the things of this life. When you take time to get away from all the obscure worthless things of this life, the importance of His presence is made imminent. I'm not saying you have to go to camp with the bare necessities of survival to experience the full extent of God's presence. I'm just saying its important to cut off the distractions of this world completely and focus on the One who holds the capacity to do things far greater than you could ever imagine. Don't expect God to work in your life in a way that fits your expectation. He never seems to work in the way we think He is going to. Its always in a way thats better. A way thats more creative, more personal and more amazing than we ever imagine.

"God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us." Ephesians 3:20
